Evil Invaders The Internal Anger that Feeds the Violence
Conexion Rock Radio in their Internat brings to our audience in Latin America and the rest of the world the news that several bands present towards the end of 2017, which are interesting and from the voice of their own protagonists know their history and plans futures.
Johonny Gonzalez in this opportunity talks with the voice and guitar of the band of Speed Metal of Belgium: Evil Invaders, Johannes Van Audenhove, for its fans simply Joe, who tells us of the success and good reception that has his most recent record called Feed I Violence, and that is edited by the record label Napalm Records.
The band in addition to Joe is complemented by Max Maxheim in the guitars, Senne Jacobs on drums, and Joeri van de Schoot on bass, who at the discretion of our guest considers it the best formation the band has in its history.
Below we share our interview with all lovers of Speed Metal:
Conexion Rock Radio: Start the interview in congratulating the band for the release of their second album called Feed Me Violence via Napalm Records. What expectations does the band have for its fans with this new album?
Joe: Thanks for the congratulations, on the expectations we believe that we want to surpass in many things our previous works. We are taking slow but sure steps in a musical evolution that will please our fans.
CR: In your own words how would you define Feed Me Violence, what inspired you to compose in this new album?
Joe: It's a very heavy album, with many riffs, with dense passages on some tracks, I'm inspired by speed and that's what makes the new album special.
CR: How does the band feel belonging to a great record label like Napalm Records, and how was the contact with the band?
Joe: We are proud to belong to the Napalm Artists family. They have given us all the support to get to what we are today, and we believe that our working relationship with them goes for many more years. About how the contact occurred. It was when we were in promotion of our EP that it bears the name of the band, previously we had recorded the D-emokill (2009) and they were interested in our sound and they proposed us to be part of the record label, which we did not doubt in their offer. Currently this is our second album with Napalm and we are grateful for all the help they give us to be known all over the world.
CR: If with the debut Pulses of Pleasure was a good introduction for lovers of Thrash Metal, this new album comes to surpass in all aspects, what differences are there between this new release with the previous one? better production? More ideas for the rest of the band? Why the title of the album?
Joe: It is very difficult to define if Pulses is better than the new one or vice versa, we believe that each album presents a part of our history and intention is to continue doing what we like and music is part of all this. About the production I can tell you that the album has a focus on the old classic school of the Thrash Metal of the 80's, so if you are a lover of that time far from giving you nostalgia you will know that there are many bands around the world including us that we do in a certain way a tribute to those glorious times. A classic but polished sound for these times. The title of the album is a clear message to our fans around the world of the situation in which we live and that we literally feed with violence.
CR: Evil Invaders in its history has suffered several changes of musicians. Maybe it's a challenge for you to keep the band alive, for others it's a matter of stability. Are you satisfied with the current lineup that the band has on this new album, especially by Max and Joeri?
Joe: Definitely, both have come to the band at a very opportune time, I think I've never seen a more powerful and stable lineup like the one we have now, and we have a mindset to move forward on stage and on the road, and everything works between a work team and a brotherhood. Max and Joeri have given the band an interesting twist and their talents have been part of that change.
CR: Many think that the band belongs to a new generation of Thrash and Speed metal from Belgium for the world, the message is to be the fastest and the loudest in the world. What reactions has Evil Invaders had with fans around the world?
Joe: As musicians our attitude is to take everything to the next level, for us it is a challenge to improve in each of the aspects that involves being part of a band, and especially one like Evil Invaders. Currently the new bands offer interesting variations and influences within the Thrash and Speed Metal, also within the Death Metal, Progressive, but maintaining in a certain way the sound of the roots what defines their own identity.
CR: What has been the best time the band has had on a tour? We know that the band was stopped at a presentation in the United States, what happened there?
Joe: Our best moment without any doubt is to make good coexistence with the public in the different places where we present ourselves. The funniest anecdote we had was when we toured with Destruction, and Schmier (bass and vocals) and we in those days had our former bass player named Nico, and he tells us with his peculiar accent: "Boys ... anything that do not shit on the bus! " And we were a bit nervous, we said "No problem ... do not worry!" (Laughter) On the road Nico all nervous said "I can not take it anymore ... I go to the bathroom!" When he left, he opened the door and said, do not worry about the next time I went back to the bus ... that was a disaster (laughs). We had to open the windows to ventilate that smell that came out because the toilet was covered, we did the impossible to uncover it, we threw everything out the window and Schmier shouting all the way told us to throw all that, and finally said "be careful not to throw it to the driver!" It was a shameful but fun situation at the same time.
Then what happened when we were arrested in the United States is that we were going as guests at several festivals, and on the way from Belgium everything was normal, when we landed the ugliest part began when two immigration agents reviewed our documents, that's when Joeri phone call and let us know that they were looking for us, with our instruments and suitcases retained we went there to find out what was the problem, everything was in expired documentation and we did not realize in time to solve it for more than we explained to the authorities we could not perform the tour that was planned, they had us locked up for more than 24 hours in migration with cameras watching all day, and the promoter could not do anything because that was already a legal issue, and once that time passed they gave us our things again and sadly we return home. We have learned something from that experience: You must have everything legal because these gentlemen are very strict!
CR: Do you have plans to tour in Latin America? here would win many fans
Joe: Actually yes, the previous experience did not take away the incentive, so we will do the tour in several festivals in Colombia like the Millenium Fest, then we reorganize everything, possibly if we find good promoters we could get to Mexico, so we only have to wait for them to be attentive.
CR: What words do you want to send to those who read us in this interview, and again thanks for the time to answer the questions for our audience in Latin America?
Joe: First of all thanks for this interesting interview and for the time you took to prepare the questions, we send a greeting to all our fans in Latin America and in other continents for supporting us in this new adventure, Napalm Records for allowing us to reach our sound to your countries and we hope to see you soon on a tour to have a great time with all of you! We hope to have interaction in the social networks so that they follow us and know each one of our presentations.
CR: Joe, thank you for the time in this interview and we wish you and your bandmates the best on upcoming tours with Feed Me Violence!
Joe: Thank you very much and we will keep in touch for the fans in this part of the planet!
Special thanks to Mona Miluski from the press team of Napalm Records for the facilities in conducting this interview and to Joe thank you for the time granted in this interview.
