Conexion Rock Radio: John, I'm Johonny González from Conexión Radio Radio of Honduras Central America, it's a great honor to have you here in this special interview for our audience in Central and Latin America, welcome!
John Bush: Hello Johonny how are you, it's a great surprise to talk with someone from Honduras, it's my first interview for this region, and it’s awesome!
Conexion Rock Radio: start this special interview with good news for Armored fans, on this tour they will play the full Symbol Of Salvation, and then they will release a DVD of that tour. What motivated the band to revisit live what many fans consider in this album a masterpiece?
John Bush: We are excited to play the whole album again, we used to play 3 or 4 songs in the setlist, this time we will do it from start to finish, and we all wondered if one day we would do this, seeing what the album represented in its moment, and especially make a tribute to Dave (Prichard) and the challenge of moving forward, we think that this is the way to close a chapter that was pending with this DVD that we will record in several places, we will take the best either from a or several presentations at the same time, so we are more than ready to take our gears and hit the road.
CR: In the same way, it's good news that they will re-release the album with additional tracks. Guillermo Villatoro of Honduras sends the following comment: thanks for the reissue of Symbol de Salvation! Good album for those of us who are collectors. You should consider releasing an autographed edition by the band!
JB: Guillermo, thanks for the comment, the idea is to release it on Vinyl, and there has been demand seeing that in the last years the CD version has been the existing one (the special triple edition still exists), the truth is I'm a fan of vinyl that of the digital versions like the streaming that literally kill the quality or the essence of a sound with analogical base, and there is nothing better than to feel and appreciate from a turntable as an album sounds, now Metal Blade has plans to make an edition , so when going on sale, do your own that comes with interesting things!
CR: Likewise Guillermo says: Thanks to his selection of the best Metal Blade albums in Brian Slagel's book, I met the group of superheroes Engine Joey Vera and Ray Adler.
JB: I'm very glad you have the book! It was a difficult selection for Brian's book, and as everyone knows Metal Blade is like our home, we are all like brothers and we agree at a time when we signed with the record label, and from there all those experiences of the time You can see in the book.
CR: What expectations does the band have with this tour that will begin soon in the United States, we know they will play in some Latin American countries, what details can you share?
JB: That's right, we're going to visit some countries like Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Colombia, those places I visited earlier when I was at Anthrax, so the plans are focused on making them for mid-year, and we'll do a great show to that everyone enjoys, will be a long and exciting setlist at the same time!
CR: Currently your last studio album was Win Hands Down followed by Carpe Noctum live, we will have a new Armored album this year?
JB: For now not this year, for now we want to enjoy in all the places where the Symbol celebration can take place, for that reason we will take this whole year to do several shows in several continents, and we want to take the time to compose and do the ideas, and not do it rapido (laughs), something is sure, the new album will be released next year.
CR: Speaking of live celebrations, many want to know if they will have the opportunity to listen to another classic like Rising Fear in its 30th anniversary that you think about this.
JB: Exactly not the 30 years, and the album in a few months will turn 31, by the way has one of the best covers in the discography of the band, besides having very good classics like Underdogs, Rising Fear or Chemical Euphoria. We had the opportunity to tour with Michael Schenker, Ozzy Osbourne, so it will be a matter of waiting if we can revisit the album live.
CR: As we all know, you were vocalist for several years so that Anthrax replaced Joey Belladona and recorded several albums with the band (Sound Of The White Noise and We've Come For You All They are all my favorites). What experience did you leave singing with Anthrax for several years?
JB: It was a good experience with the band in those years, I remember that Indians was one of my favorite topics, and I can tell you that all that time I've been with them I've been proud, I've left my contribution in every job that I recorded at Anthrax, and that was a page I'm satisfied with.
CR: Will we have the opportunity someday to see you sing in a special meeting with Anthrax? How are things currently with them?
JB: Well, many people have asked me if that could happen, unfortunately our agendas (with Anthrax) do not coincide to make that moment a reality. So what I have thought is to find the right moment, the right musicians and do these shows of my era with Anthrax.
CR: What is the best album and the most underrated of AS?
JB: I could define as better Symbol Of Salvation or Rising Fear as the best, already as an underrated La Raza.
CR: What words do you want to send to those who read in this special interview, and I thank you for answering our questions this day?
JB: First of all, thanks to you for the time you have take in make good questions, to the fans in Central and Latin America that we know are waiting for us with open arms no matter which country they follow, expect good surprises soon with Armoed Saint on this tour that will soon start!
CR: Thanks John for your time in this special interview, also to Metal Blade Records for the opportunity given on this day, the best of luck on this tour!
