CR: En tus propias palabras, ¿cómo defines One Foot In The Grave?
Tankard: New album ... And The Party Ain't Over! Exclusive for Central and Latin America
New episode not suitable for Alcoholics Anonymous in Conexion Rock Radio! For us it is an honor to be able to share with all of you the interesting news that the bands of the whole planet have in our usual series of International Interviews, and in this opportunity again we talked with one of the most beloved characters within the scene of the called Four Big German Metal.
In this opportunity we talked for the second time with Andreas Fritz Johannes Geremia, better known as Gerre, voice of the Thrash Metal band Tankard, and who is going through one of his best moments in the last years for three reasons, the first for the excellent reception that the fans have given to his most recent album One Foot In The Grave, the second the renewal of his contract with the powerful Nuclear Blast Records, and the third one being special the celebration of his 36 years of existence that will be effective with a tour through several countries of Central and Latin America where the band will visit for the first time in its history several places where they will meet face to face with a legion of thirsty fans (in the literal sense of the word) of a lot of German Metal and the Beers that are main characteristic in their live presentations.
Below we present our report to Germany: Conexion Rock Radio: Gerre, welcome to this special interview, it is an honor to have you again for all Tankard fans and especially to know the news that the band has this year! Gerre: Thanks to you Johonny, as always a pleasure to talk with you and the audience of your radio!
CR: Start this fun and alcoholic interview to know the good reception that fans around the world give to the band's new album One Foot In The Grave.
How does the band feel celebrating 36 years with this new page in its history? Gerre: It is very exciting to get to this point of activity as a band and we look back on all the work we have done, with the new album the fans have given due approval and it shows the constant tours we have made until the Today, here the most exciting is that in the next few days we will stop in two countries that will play for the first time such as Guatemala and El Salvador, so this tour will be very special to know these places and especially the fans, it will be a great party that is guaranteed once the concert begins!
CR: In your own words, how do you define One Foot In The Grave? Many will think that Tankard will continue to make good music until the alien and a lot of alcohol allow it ... The party is not over! Gerre: This is Tankard's typical party album, that's our philosophy of improving on every page of our history. Many were scared when they looked at the title of the album and thought it could be the last album of the band, I will tell them not to worry that they will have a band (and a lot of alcohol) for a while!
CR: If Rest In Beer was an excellent album, One Foot surpasses it in many things, can you share how was the composition and the recording process of this new album? Gerre: We believe that everything has been thanks to the work team that we have done as a band, we all contribute ideas, and that mechanics we have taken for many years, we are satisfied with the final result with this new album, there are songs that are already classic and We hope that this tour is enjoyed by fans like us when we play them.
CR: Now let's talk about the tour that the band will do in Latin America. In a few days he will play in Mexico for the Heaven and Heaven Fest, on his way he will arrive in Central America: Guatemala and El Salvador to finish in Colombia. What expectations does the band have playing in the countries they will be visiting for the first time? Gerre: In these moments while I talk with you we prepare our bags, in a few hours we will take our plane where it will take us to the first stop in Mexico at the Hell and Heaven Fest. We will meet again with our Mexican fans and from other countries, not only European festivals we enjoy, the public of Latin America is special and different and that is why we feel at home every time we go to festivals like these. In the case of Guatemala and El Salvador we have our expectation very high and we want to see them enjoy the concert singing our songs and as I said before: it will be a great party in these countries and we hope to survive ... to the morning after! (laughs)
CR: How could you evaluate in your own words the evolution of Tankard in 36 years? Gerre: Interesting question! I would define it in unity, brotherhood and lots of fun, and we hope to last many years on the scene! It is incredible the trip until today, starting all very young, 36 years is not easy but we have managed to overcome that mark now we will see what it holds in the future.
CR: Recently they have renewed their contract with Nuclear Blast Records, how does the band feel to be part of an important world label like NB? Gerre: We are happy to renew our contract with them, we have made very good albums, and seeing the success with the new have decided that we remain in the ranks of Nuclear Blast, we are fortunate for the support they provide us and we hope in the future to exceed expectations and offer better quality albums to the fans.
CR: Fat ... Ugly & Live is the only live album by Tankard in his discography. Do you have plans to make a new live album seeing the good reception of this new album? Gerre: You're right! That is our only album to date, we really believe that it is not necessary to make another live album because now the festivals make their live broadcasts and record our concerts, maybe later we will see a special moment in which we can make another album Live.
CR: The Morning After in 2018 turns 30, are there plans to make a special celebration? Gerre: (Laughs) curiously I did not have that data at hand, for us that album is one of the special moments in the history of the band, but we do not like to celebrate, what we do in our setlist is to take several songs from each album and we make variations by playing songs that we have not played live for many years. The best thing for us is to celebrate doing a review of all our albums.
CR: For you, what is the best album and the most underrated in the history of the band? In a recent survey, many say that the undervalued ones are Disco Destroyer and The Meaning of Life, and the best ones are Chemical Invasion and The Beauty and the Beer. Gerre: For me, the best ones are Zombie Attack and the new one, if you ask me for an undervalued one, would be The Tankard of '95. It is undervalued by production but especially by the cover, maybe we all hate it for being very simple, a jar with wings, at the time we looked at it fantastic but over the years we saw that it loses its value and could consider that album as a not favorite
CR: Some words want to dedicate to all the people who read this interview and again thanks for answering our questions in this special program on Conexion Rock Radio. Gerre: First of all thanks to you for the interest of doing this interview for our fans in Central America, and other countries we hope to see you soon and make a great party, see each face, each smile and sing with us our songs that are their hymns ! Cheers and we'll see you soon on the road !!
CR: Thank you Gerre for your time, the best of luck in this tour and it will be an honor to share with you and the rest of the band of your concert in El Salvador! Cheers!!
Special thanks to Gerre for the fun time in this special interview and our report is dedicated to the entire legion of Tankard fans in Latin America!
