Intronaut The Cubensis of a Great Return If you are a lover of Progressive Metal loaded with a lot of psychedelia, fun situations and high caliber talent, we invite you to accompany in this interview that Conexion Rock Radio brings you to this beginning of the 2020 season. This time our contact is up to Los Angeles, California, and that's where we talked with Sacha Dunable: Vocal and Guitars of the band Intronaut, who are back on the map after several years of absence with a new album called Fluid Existential Inversions , and that will go on sale at the end of February via Metal Blade Records. Currently the lineup of the band is conformed by Joe Lester- Bass, Sacha Dunable- Guitars and Vocals, and Dave Timnick- Guitars. Intronaut is formed in 2004 and they make their incursion with Null - Demonstration Extended Play Compact Disc whose demo would lead the band to the recording of their 2006 Null EP and their debut Void. In this interview you will know the expectations that the band has with their new album and some changes in their lineup that will give more importance in their live performances. Then ... we share with you all our report: Conexion Rock Radio: Sacha, it is an honor to have you here for our audience in Central and Latin America that wants to know about the news that Intronaut has for its fans in 2020, welcome! Sacha Dunable: Greetings from Los Angeles, nice to talk with you on this day! CR: Start this interview congratulating the band for the release of their new album called Fluid Existential Inversions, and will be released on February 28, 2020 through Metal Blade Records.
What are the expectations that the band has with this new album? Everyone thinks that this is one of the most anticipated releases of the label this year SD: The expectation is very high for this new work, the main point is that everyone enjoys it once they have it in their hands. Similarly, it is good to return after several years without releasing an album, and it remains only to wait for the first tour dates to be announced and celebrate it with fans around the world. CR: What experiences has the band left in working with Josh Newell as a producer? SD: Josh is a great producer, he has worked with us since Prehistoricisms, he is a great person and understands our way of acting once we enter the studio, and thanks to him the band has evolved during all these years, and for Inversions it is not the exception, his experience is very professional after the recording controls and we consider him as one more member. CR: Fans consider this album as one of the best that the band has done in their career, especially for the aspect of production, what do you speak in their lyrics for this new work?
SD: Actually, this is not a conceptual work, in our songs we reflect everything related to people's emotions and feelings, nightmares, pleasure and pain also appear, so we try to provide a balanced album for the taste of all fans. CR: We know that currently the band does not have Drummer, but you had the collaboration in studio from Alex Rüdinger, and that it has been an important point for this album to have this great result. What experiences have you left in working with Alex?
SD: We are currently a three-member piece, unfortunately our drummer leaves the band in 2018 when we started with the new process of ideas, and when we had everything ready for the rhythmic bases we called Alex, we made the invitation and participated in the recording, and we are grateful for his great contribution for this album. We are currently looking for a full-time drummer for our tours, it will only be a matter of time to announce it. CR: Are you looking for a drummer for the band or do you prefer to work with collaborators? Everyone thinks Alex could be the one for the job, what do you think about it? SD: We all think that Alex can be the ideal drummer in the band, he is undoubtedly a professional musician, but his agendas prevent him from joining us for this tour. That is why Matt Lynch, who is the current Cynic Drummer, will be with us and will be with us for the dates of Mexico and other live shows. CR: This album marks Intronaut's debut with Metal Blade Records, how do you feel being part of a great label like this?
SD: It is a great honor to be part of the label´s family. Was the home of iconic bands around the world, and we hope that this working relationship lasts as many years as possible and further increase our discography now that we are part of Metal Blade. CR: What reactions has the band had with the release of the first single from the album: Cubensis, and what is the story behind the video?
The Dolphin has literally stolen the show, what details can you share with us? SD: The single was our cover letter for the new album, and it was also necessary to make a video, it was a bizarre story but at the same time fun, it is the classic story of the good boy, the lady in trouble and the bad boys (the band takes the role in this video) they beat up the hero, dropped chemicals in their body, he transforms into a mutant dolphin, and I seek revenge to rescue his girlfriend. CR: We all think that Cubensis is like the continuation of Fast Worms, is the Dolphin the mascot of the band?
SD: (laughs) Somehow not, although there were many rumors about it, but it is subject to several interpretations by fans, although everything at the beginning was a joke but with the passage of the process the videos took a more serious direction. CR: What is your point of view on the musical evolution that the band has in these 16 years?
Is there any formula to make high quality albums? SD: The truth is all about doing the best during all these years. Our inspiration is based on the experiences of what happens around the world, daily news, and that literally affects our environment, as musicians we are honest in what we express and translate through music. CR: With the good reception and promotion of this album, do you consider recording a live album in the future? SD: If the fans demand it, we will do it, it will only be a matter of looking for the right time and place to record a live show, and that the label supports a project of these characteristics. CR: What message do you want to send to all the people who read us on this day, thank you for your time in answering these questions in this special interview for Conexion Rock Radio?
SD: First of all, thank you for the interview and for echoing what we do for your readers and listeners in Latin America, who constantly support us, we thank you, and we hope that the new album is to your liking, and If it is possible in the future to be able to visit them on a tour, we invite you to buy the album at the Metal Blade store on both CD and Vinyl, and that the label will release a series of color vinyl collection so you can enjoy in their homes from this format CR: Sacha, thanks for your time here, in the same way to our MBR friends for making this interview possible, the best for you and your bandmates with this new album, and we hope to talk again in the future and give continuity to the story of a great band like Intronaut!
