Interesante entrevista la que presentamos en nuestros contactos internacionales que Conexion Rock Radio recorre alrededor del mundo para compartir con nuestra audiencia de las noticias en cuanto a rock y metal se refieren en varios continentes.
Y conversamos hasta Estados Unidos con el compositor y guitarrista Monte Pittman, quien pasa por un momento especial en su carrera con el lanzamiento de un album doble: Better or Worse y Between The Space a traves de Metal Blade Records a nivel mundial, y que marca un punto de experimentacion hacia sus fans haciendo un album electrico y acustico.

Monte Pittman: Gracias por invitarme y hablar con tu público sobre mis proyectos actuales.
 
CR: Inicio este reporte con buenas noticias para tus fans en todo el mundo, lejos de volver con un álbum, lanzas un doble disco llamado Better or Worse y Between The Space a través de Metal Blade Records. ¿Cuáles son tus expectativas en esta nueva página de tu carrera?
MP: Espero seguir construyendo mi carrera como solista.
Estoy llegando al punto en el que es difícil decidir qué canciones tocar en vivo.
Actualmente me estoy preparando para la apertura de la gira de Sebastian Bach, y estoy entusiasmado con la realización de este material frente a tanta gente.

CR: Curiosamente, este doble trabajo buscas exponer dos universos interesantes en tu carrera como músico: el universo eléctrico que representa Better or Worse, y el acústico con Between The Space, ¿cómo fue la idea de hacer este proyecto con 16 temas entre estos dos álbumes?
MP: Siempre me han gustado los dos estilos de música.
Hay ocasiones en que quieres escuchar algo pesado y hay veces que no. El álbum acústico se siente como un álbum pesado.
Lo escribí de esa manera porque quería más ritmo y canciones más duras cuando hago shows acústicos.
El álbum pesado resume todo lo que hice antes. A medida que creces como artista, tomas lo que aprendiste hasta ese momento y, con suerte, creas el mejor material hasta ahora.
 
CR: ¿Nos gustaría saber quiénes son los músicos que aparecen en estos nuevos álbums?
MP: Toque para los dos albums todos los instrumentos.
Esta es la primera vez que toco batería en un álbum. Empecé a tocar la batería en la escuela antes de obtener mi primera guitarra.
Mi hijo, Atticus, tocó la batería para una canción en el álbum acústico.
Lo único que no hice fue la obra de arte y la masterización.
​CR: ¿Cómo definirías en tus propias palabras Better and Between? ¿Y qué diferencias hay con The Deepest Dark?
MP: "Better or Worse" analiza el tema de cada canción desde ambos lados del espectro.
Una de las diferencias es que hice "Better or Worse" solo y podría trabajar en él siempre que me sintiera inspirado.
"The Deepest Dark" fue mi primer álbum y todo se grabó en 3 días.
"Between The Space" consiste en todo lo que necesito agregar a mi catálogo.

CR: Este nuevo trabajo para muchos será un experimento interesante, porque podría ser que a algunos les guste el álbum eléctrico, otros a la acústica o una mezcla de ambos, ¿qué opinas al respecto?
MP: Esa es la idea. Al tener ambos álbumes nuevos a la vez, tengo nueva música para ambos estilos. Tengo material nuevo para cualquier tipo de programa que pueda tocar.
 
CR: actualmente eres un artista en el catálogo de Metal Blade Records, nos gustaría saber si este álbum doble es tu debut con la etiqueta o si tienes trabajos anteriores lanzados con ellos.
MP: Este es mi tercer y cuarto álbum en Metal Blade.
Es mi quinto y sexto álbum en general. Publiqué 2 álbumes antes de firmar con Metal Blade.

CR: Hablemos un poco acerca de tu carrera profesional para aquellos que te conocen por primera vez en esta entrevista, además de trabajar como solista haz tocado con una gran cantidad de artistas a nivel mundial, y también en grandes giras.
Nombres como Maddona, Prong, In Extremo, Ministry, Adam Lambert, Myra Mains y otros son parte de una gran lista.
¿Qué experiencias te quedan al compartir tu talento con estos grandes artistas durante estos años?
MP: Me encanta poder jugar una variedad de cosas. Ha sido muy importante para mí poder sobrevivir tanto tiempo.

​CR: La leyenda reza que brevemente fuiste vendedor en una tienda y luego renunciaste para dar clases de guitarra, uno de tus estudiantes fue curiosamente Guy Ritche, quien le dio a Madonna una guitarra, y más tarde ella sería tu alumna.
Por cosas mismas del destino años más tarde eres su guitarrista en el estudio y de gira.
¿Te consideras afortunado de trabajar con un artista privilegiado como Madonna?
MP: Soy muy afortunado y estoy agradecido de haber trabajado con Madonna todo este tiempo. He podido viajar por el mundo varias veces y tocar algunos de los conciertos más importantes de mi vida.
A veces no te das cuenta de lo que estás haciendo hasta que miras hacia atrás.
Estoy esperando el futuro con ella también.

​CR: A tu punto de vista personal, ¿cuál sería el mejor y el más infravalorado álbum de tu carrera, y por qué?
MP: Hice cada álbum lo mejor que pude.
Creo que lo mejor sería uno de los nuevos porque eso muestra lo que he podido hacer.
No estoy seguro de cuál sería subestimado porque todos son diferentes.
 
CR: ¿Estás a favor de hacer un álbum en vivo? Sería un proyecto interesante en tu discografía hacerlo en el futuro, ¿qué opinas al respecto?
MP: Me encanta la idea de hacer un álbum en vivo. Sería interesante poder escuchar todas estas canciones en vivo.
 
CR: Una vez que se haya lanzado el álbum y cubierto el ciclo de promoción con los medios, recorrerá varias ciudades de los Estados Unidos. ¿Estás planeando recorrer otros continentes? ¿Europa? ¿América latina?
MP: No sé cuáles son mis planes más allá de eso, pero definitivamente me encantaría. Me estoy preparando para ir de gira con Sebastián Bach el próximo mes. Veremos qué pasa desde allí.
 
CR: ¿Cuál es la visión que Monte Pittman tiene sobre el radar sónico mundial para el futuro?
MP: Quiero seguir girando. Tarde o temprano, Madonna lanzará nueva música y hará otra gira. Seguiré haciendo álbumes y girando.
 
CR: ¿Qué mensaje desea enviar a quienes nos han leído, y gracias por responder a cada una de nuestras preguntas en esta entrevista para Conexión Rock Radio?
MP: Quiero agradecer a todos por el apoyo. Gracias por escuchar mi música. Espero que sea la banda sonora de algunos momentos realmente buenos para ti.

Interesting interview which we present in our international contacts that Conexion Rock Radio travels around the world to share with our audience the news regarding rock and metal are referred to in several continents.
And we talked to the United States with the composer and guitarist Monte Pittman, who is going through a special moment in his career with the release of a double album: Better or Worse and Between The Space through Metal Blade Records worldwide, and which brand a point of experimentation towards his fans making an electric and acoustic album.

You will know interesting aspects of his career as a musician and of the ambitious future that this virtuoso musician has in his hands who wants to show two universes to a single sound.
​Conexion Rock Radio: Monte, it's an honor to have you here for those who want to know about your interesting career and the news you have for us this year, welcome!
Monte Pittman: Thanks for having me and talk with your audience about my current projects.
 
CR: Start my report with good news for your fans around the world, far from returning with an album you release a double record called Better Or Worse and Between The Space via Metal Blade Records. What are your expectations on this new page of your career?
MP: I hope to keep building my career as a solo artist.
I’m getting to the point where it’s hard to decide which songs to play live. I’m getting ready to go on tour opening for Sebastian Bach.
I’m excited about performing this material in front of so many people.

​CR: Curiously, this double new work seeks to expose two interesting universes in your career as a musician: the electric universe that represents Better Or Worse, and the acoustic with Between The Space, how was the idea of doing this project with 16 tracks between these two albums?
MP: I’ve always loved both styles of music.
There are times you want to hear something heavy and there are times you don’t. The acoustic album feels like a heavy album.
I wrote it that way because I wanted more up tempo and harder hitting songs when I do acoustic shows.
The heavy album kind of sums up everything I’ve done before now. As you grow as an artist, you take what you learned up to that point and hopefully create some of the best material yet.
 
CR: We would like to know who are the musicians that appear in these new albums?
MP: I played all of the instruments.
This is the first time I’ve ever played drums on an album.
​I started out playing drums in school before I got my first guitar.
My son, Atticus, played drums for one song on the acoustic album.
The only thing I didn’t do was the artwork and the mastering. 
​CR: How would you define in your own words Better and Between? And what differences are there with The Deepest Dark?
MP: “Better Or Worse” looks at each song theme from both sides of the spectrum. One of the differences is I made “Better Or Worse” by myself and I could work on it whenever I felt inspired. “The Deepest Dark” was my very first album and the entire thing was recorded in 3 days. “Between The Space” consists of everything in between that I need to add to my catalog.

CR: This new work for many will be an interesting experiment, because it could be that some would like the electric album, others the acoustic or a mixture of both, what do you think about it?
MP: That’s the idea. By having both of these new albums out at once, I have new music for both styles. I have new material for any kind of show I’m able to play.

​CR: urrently you are an artist in the Metal Blade Records catalog, we would like to know if this double album is your debut with the label or have previous works released with them?
MP: This is my 3rd and 4th album on Metal Blade. It’s my 5th and 6th album overall. I released 2 albums before getting signed to Metal Blade.
 
CR: Let's talk a little about your career for those who know you for the first time in this interview, in addition to working alone, you have played with a large number of artists around the world and likewise in large tours. Names like Maddona, Prong, In Extremo, Ministry, Adam Lambert, Myra Mains and others are part of a great list. What experiences have you left in sharing your talent with these great artists during these years?
MP: I love being able to play a variety of things. It’s been very important for me being able to survive this long.

CR: The legend says that briefly you were a salesman in a store and then you resigned to give guitar lessons, one of your students was curiously Guy Ritche, who gave Madonna a guitar, and later she would be your student. Destiny later on put you as his guitarist in studio and on tour. Do you consider yourself lucky to work with a privileged artist like Madonna?
MP: I’m very fortunate and thankful to have worked with Madonna this long. I’ve been able to travel the world several times and play some of the biggest shows in my lifetime. Sometimes you don’t realize what you’re doing until you look back on it. I’m looking forward to the future with her also.
​CR: To your personal point of view for you what would be your best and most underrated album and why?
MP: I made each album to the best of my abilities. I think the best would be one of the new ones because that shows what I’ve grown to be able to do. I’m not sure which one would be underrated because they’re all different.
 
CR: Are you in favor of making a live album? It would be an interesting project in your discography to do it in the future, what do you think about it?
MP: I love the idea of making a live album. It would be interesting to be able to hear all of these songs played live.
 
CR: Once the album has been released and the promotion cycle covered with the media, you will be touring several cities in the United States. Are you planning to tour other continents? Europe? Latin America?
MP: I don’t know what my plans are beyond that but I definitely would love to. I’m getting ready to go on tour with Sebastian Bach next month. We’ll see what happens from there.

CR: What is the vision that Monte Pittman has on the world sonic radar for the future?
MP: I want to keep touring. Sooner or later, Madonna will release new music and do another tour. I’ll keep making albums and touring.
