Kontrust No Es Propaganda...
Ir a nuevos lugares, conocer gente nueva.
CR: Curiosamente, Time To Tango cumple 10 años en 2019, ¿hay algún plan especial?

Kontrust
It's Not Propaganda ... They're Back! Interesting band that we offer to continuation in our special interviews of Conexion Rock Radio, and that in the last years have obtained a great profile both discographic and live, and that in this year they return by the big door with a view to preparing a new worked in the studio to the joy of his fans. Austria is our new stop in this episode and we talked with the Vocalist of the band KONTRUST, Agata Jarosz, who updates us on the band's current news, which has released 2 EPs and 5 studio albums, with Explositive in 2014 being last record release, which has received great acceptance by critics and fans. The band in addition to Jarosz is complemented by Stefan Lichtenberger-vocals, Robert Ehgartner and Mike Wolff-guitars, Gregor Kutschera- bass, Roman Gaisböck- drums and Manuel Haglmüller- percussion. Agata also shows her new facet in her life as she is being a mother, but that is not a reason for the band not to stop their activities, and they have sent a strong message to everyone that their return it´s not propaganda ... because they´re back! Conexion Rock Radio: Start the interview in knowing the current situation of the band, we know that in 2014 you released their highly acclaimed Explositive via Napalm Records, and that you have achieved great notoriety worldwide, many are wondering: what has happened during all this time? Agata Jarosz: Explositive was released at the end of 2014. After the release we did quite a number of shows with the net set. The last 2 years I had my babybreak and the guys continued playing life with my substitute Jules throughout various countries in Europe. But due to private reasons we’ve not been able to work that much on new stuff. As I’m now back with the boys on stage we’re already at the stage of making new plans for upcoming releases. CR: It´s very curious and interesting that an Austrian band is causing our attention, first it was Alestorm, then Russkaja, and now Kontrust, how do you feel with the good reception from fans in several continents around the world, especially for its interesting discography? AJ: That’s pretty cool of course. Maybe people out there recognize that we’re really open minded ourselves for foreign ideas, mindsets or influences. It’s nice to get response or feedback from people all around the world and regions we’ve never been to. CR: Let's talk a little about the history of Kontrust, their beginnings go back to a previous band like Suicide Mission, and from 2001 they get to know with their EP Teamspirit 55, the rest is history ... How was the idea of forming Kontrust and make the Crossover your introduction letter to the worldwide scene?
AJ: As you said half of Kontrust – Stefan, Roman and Manuel – were founding members of Kontrust and play together for nearly 20 years now. In 2005 they came to a point were the wanted to make something completely different and to brake with common rules for rock/metal at that time. That we all got to know each other at that time was more or less coincidence. We started to work rapidly on songs. Everything that sounded interesting was allowed. So we came up with something we weren’t able to classify. And we didn’t want to be in just one genre, so we just said it’s crossover if someone asked. CR: What are the topics that the band use in their lyrics? AJ: That’s differs a lot from song to song. That can be everyday situations that every person around the world is familiar with and go along with strong feelings from love to hate. The lyrics can lead to a party song or on the other hand have a strong political message like it is the case in Just Propaganda, 1K1 or We add the world. CR: The band´s lineup is the same, or we have changes currently?
AJ: The lineup is the same since Mike joined the Band in 2011. So we really know each other and know how to share the good and bad moments in life. CR: In their lyrics you incorporate several languages such as German, Russian, Slavic and Spanish, examples like Bomba, A Tu Control, Bad Time, or versioning completely in Polish Czas na Tango, has it been easy or difficult to mix several languages in your songs? AJ: It’s been quite easy. The point is: sometimes a phrase sounds completely different in another language even though the meaning is the same. Spanish for example sometimes simply allows to be more rhythmic and more vital than others. Adding a different language to a song is like adding a different and interesting instrument to it. So why not doing it? But we only use languages that we’re able to speak ourselves to a certain extent. CR: How do you feel about being part of a great label like Napalm Records?
We know that the band in their first two albums Welcome Home and Time To Tango are released by Record Pool and Artist Station Records, and with Second Hand Wonderland you start the international recognition for Kontrust. AJ: Napalm records noticed us during the last touring lag of “Time to Tango” and signed us just before we released “2nd Hand Wonderland”. So far they’ve been a great label and really supporting all the way. CR: In this videos, two interesting things stand out: your beauty, the humor that the band has, such as Sock n 'Doll, Dance, Hey DJ or Bomba. Is there a formula for make high quiality albums and good and funny videos? AJ: No not really. It’s the same like with songwriting. Formula? Well, we assume it’s that bit of magic we like to place in all our releases. It just has to have that rock’n’roll flavor, that energy, a song fans will instantly love, along with a video that will be fun and entertaining. For everything else please look for other bands that write more depressing material. We don’t take ourselves that serious. Break the rules. And be open-minded for something completely different. And somehow it’s nice to add a visual component that is completely the opposite of what maybe 99,9% of all others would probably attach to a song. CR: Has the band ever faced censorship on political or conservative issues?
Just Propaganda is a clear statement of intentions that the band has a serious line of thought on mass control and that many of us are blind goats who take us to the slaughterhouse hypnotized by propaganda of any kind, including social networks (the appearance of Heidi and the goats, how was the idea in making this video that are my favorite from Explositive) AJ: No we never faced or heard of any censorship. Regarding Just propaganda we agreed on making an animated video for the first time. That gave us the possibility to exaggerate the problem of propaganda in a unique way, make it weird in a special manner and still have elements in it that can be found in other videos. CR: How has the experience of the band been playing in several festivals across Europe for several audiences?
AJ: We love doing especially that. Go to new places, meet new people. Every crowd is different, but every response we get is that same positive energy of fans just wanting to let go and go crazy, when they see us live. CR: Have you toured in the United States or some Latin American countries? AJ: Probably in the future. We’ll see how our next releases will develop and how it will be received by fans in different parts of the world. But we’re on that subject. CR: It would be interesting to see the band playing in our region and it is certain that the band would win many fans around here. AJ: We would love to. New fans are always the best! CR: In your point of view how can you evaluate the interesting musical evolution that Kontrust have until today?
AJ: There is a basic set of musical skillz in this band, that defines the core of the music we make. Over the years everything around that has changed from being very basic, to very playful, back to roots. So it always changes with every production we do. CR: Are there plans to release a new album this year? AJ: We can’t tell you to much, but new songs are currently being written. Looking forward to getting them out there. CR: Or are you planning to do more tours when that moment arrives? AJ: Currently we’re playing a tighter selection of shows, since everybody has little kids now, that still need a lot of attention. So for instance you can catch us at the Download festival in Madrid, Spain or the JohnSmith Rock Festival in Finland. For more info please visit our website or Facebook page. CR: It would be interesting for the band to release a live album or DVD, what do you think about it? AJ: There have been talks about his for quite some time and very definitely considering it for the future. CR: Curiously, Time To Tango turns 10 years old in 2019, is there any special plan? Anniversary edition or play the entire album in a live concert?
AJ: Has it been 10 Years already? How time flies, when you’re having fun. We’re currently engaged in writing new material, but there is still a lot of time in 2019 for something like that to happen. CR: What is the vision that you and your bandmates have in the music scene for the future? Kontrust has many fans around the world who expect very good things from you! AJ: More great releases, more great shows playing for our fans around the globe. Music is something we dearly love, so there is more to come. CR: Agata, what message do you want to send to those who have read this interesting interview, and I want to thank you for the time you have given us in sharing with our audience in Conexion Rock Radio everything that is happening now with a good band like Kontrust, and we hope know about you soon, you deserve the best!
AJ: Thank you so much for the interview it’s been a pleasure and see you sometime in the future at one of our shows. Special thanks to Agata Jarosz for his time in this special interview
