Sacred Reich A New Awakening for the Thrash Metal Pioneers
Conexion Rock Radio in their international interviews offers a special program for lovers of Thrash Metal, and we bring you to a classic band that returns after 23 years with new record work whose expectations are very high on this new page of its history.
We talked to the United States with Phil Rind, Bass and Voice of SACRED REICH, who shares the great moment that the band lives with the release of their first album in more than 20 years and that is called AWAKENING via Metal Blade Records, and that he makes changes in his lineup with Joey Radziwill in the Guitars and the return of Dave McClain in the Drums, and that for his fans consider this event a new awakening for these pioneers of Thrash Metal.
Conexion Rock Radio: Phil, it's an honor to have you here for our audience that wants to know the next news that Sacred Reich will have in 2019, welcome! Phil Rind: Thank you Johonny for the interest of talking with me on this day and for your audience
CR: Start the interview of this day with good news, we have a new album by Sacred Reich, the first in 23 years and it is called Awakening that will be released soon via Metal Blade Records. How do you feel about coming back with a new album after many years? PR: We are very excited and happy to share it with everybody been a long time coming I think most of us never thought it would happen so it's very exciting for all of us
CR: We know that the band has been touring for several years without recording new material until this year. What reasons have motivated the band not to record, perhaps Sacred Reich had 7 or 8 albums currently. PR: The songs aren't there you know so this is why I mean I never said we were never sure you know that the song had come and then the songs came so obvious it was time to go make a record if it's pretty obvious
CR: Many consider that this album is one of the most anticipated releases this year, we know that it was produced by Arthur Rizk, how can you describe this new album in your own words? Is it conceptual or are there several stories? PR: I think it's the best record we've done I think it's Terry all the songs are very strong I think it's a very positive and very hopeful report right now for people and I think we as a group had a wonderful time recording it and we're hoping that comes across from people listen to it and they feel the same way
CR: In the same way we have new changes in the band, on the one hand Dave McClain returns on the Drums, and on the other hand Joey Radziwill enters in the Guitar. How do you feel about seeing this Lineup renewed in the history of Sacred Reich? PR: We feel good now that we have a new album on the way, we think it was necessary to do it after many years, now with Joey and Dave the band is with renewed energies and with many plans to play in several places!
CR: Many believe that Sacred Reich has been influence of many bands around the world, the message is: thank you for the great contribution you have made in these years. Comments... PR: About our contribution is something complicated to say, maybe some people feel that we have given everything, others maybe not, and it is something that we have had as debt during this time, what counts now is that we have not stopped in several years, and now we can say that we are paying off that contribution with another great album
CR: One of the most emblematic songs in the history of the band is Surf Nicaragua. What inspired you to do this classic?
PR: I will refer to the situation in 1980 when the United States sought to put an end to any type of left-wing uprising in Central America. The Reagan administration's desire to dominate the situation against Russia in those years resulted in the illegal financing of a rebel organization such as the Contras, and all this had connotations of a small playground for guerrilla warfare, for that reason the politicians they made stupid campaigns to make the situation worse in Central America.
CR: What is your opinion if there is the best work or the underestimated in the discography of the band? Many say Ignorance or Surf Nicaragua or the new one as the best, the underrated are Independent and Heal. What do you think about this? PR: I like all the albums, you know that when you make an album there are memories that come with it, so we have very good memories of everything and I cannot wait for everyone to listen to the new stuff that we have, and I think that people really will like
CR: In the next few days the band will begin a tour with Enforced, Iron Reagan and Leeway. Will we have the chance to see the band touring through Central and Latin America? PR: For now we have confirmed dates in the United States and Europe. We know that there are many fans of the band in your continent and we are looking for the way possibly for 2020 to play over there, it will be a matter of some promoters being interested in us
CR: What words do you want to send to those who read us in this interview, and thanks for answering our questions on Conexion Rock Radio. PR: Thank you very much, we hope to play soon in Central and Latin America would be wonderful and we just want to thank everyone for being so passionate with our music in all these years and is the most important, because thanks to you we are still here, and thanks to you Johonny for this interesting interview for your listeners and readers.
Special thanks to Sarah Lutz of the Metal Blade Records Press and Promotion Team for their help in making this interview possible and to Phil Rind for the time in this special report
