Altamente recomendado! 9/10 Tracklist: 1. The Motherland 2. The Healer 3.
Ann - Chapter 2 - Anastasia Romanov Review by Johonny González @conexionrockhn An interesting story becomes progressive and symphonic! Before this project that over a year ago Ex Libris has decided to start there was much expectation from the fans of the band that surprises would bring a potential new album, far from being the project would become a trilogy composed of three EP' s, that's where the vocalist Dianne van Giersbergen who just left Xandria decides with her bandmates to reactivate Ex Libris after her last installment as it was Medea in 2014, and offer the listener a new universe, and literally surpass as acting and composition to his former ex-band. The currently Band´s Lineup is conformed by Koen Stam- Keyboards, Dianne van Giersbergen- Vocals, Luuk van Gerven- Bass, Harmen Kieboom- Drums and Bob Wijtsma- Guitars.
ANN, is the name of what for many is his most ambitious project in his career, and that through a Crowfunding campaign they have managed to self-finance this whole project, being Ann - Chapter 1 - Anne Boleyn of 2018, where his life is narrated and death by decapitation, this is where we have the beginning of a story that through music becomes the soundtrack of a history class surely you will be fascinated. 2019 arrives and they give us the second part of this saga called Anastasia Romanov, this time the timeline takes us 400 years later to Russia, where we know the life of the youngest daughter of Emperor Nicholas II, the last Tsar of Imperial Russia , and of his wife Alejandra Fiódorovna. She was killed along with the rest of her family on July 17, 1918 by forces of the Bolshevik secret police.
Here Ex Libris exposes us in 3 songs with a duration of 21 minutes three important moments of the character, his birth marked an important moment within the Russian Empire, where his name meant for the Orthodox Church "Resurrection", so he receives the title of Great Duchess, in spite of that range her lifestyle was humble but with the vision of seeing a great and prosperous homeland, for it her opening with the majestic The Motherland.
In the intermission we came across The Healer, who alludes to Grigori Rasputin, a character who had a high influence within the Romanov Family, a Russian peasant and itinerant stérets, with a reputation as a holy man, whose prayers supposedly relieved the pains of young daughters of the Tsar many times.
For Anastasia and her sisters they considered Rasputin as a "Friend and Confident", but the plot becomes obscure when they investigate Rasputin's true intentions to obtain the power and riches of the Tsarists through faith, where in the end he was separated of the Royal Family for sexual scandals and rumors of manipulation of young Zarinas. We came to the conclusion with The Exile, where we talk about the consequences that Anastasia and her family suffered in the First World War, whose consequences led to the outbreak of the Russian Revolution in 1917 by the Bolshevik Army.
It is there where all are victims of house arrest, Anastasia and her family were transferred to the house Ipátiev, in Yekaterinburg, where months later they would be executed by a firing squad. Thus a Duchess dies, but a legend was born where on the one hand several theories that Anastasia was alive were a debate where the world set its sights on Russia, where several people used their name claiming that the royal lineage was still alive. Several decades later it is discovered that the body of Anastasia was found, and once the wars were over, the Orthodox Church could canonize the Romanovs for their Christian humility. And on the other hand the cultural impact that this character has caused around the world, where would appear novels, movies, musicals and documentaries about his life, and Ex Libris is not far behind doing a well-deserved tribute to one of the considered Holy Women of Russia. In conclusion if Anne Boleyn left you with a very good impression, in this second part the band has managed to masterfully maintain a timeline beating its predecessor, giving Anastasia a well deserved atmosphere where her life is reflected in 3 tracks, and that in the tour of this EP takes us magically to Russia, it will undoubtedly be necessary for these songs to be played in a live concert, and it only remains for now to wait in the time machine for another character to search for these talented musicians to expose a new history.
Highly recommended! 9/10 Tracklist: 1. The Motherland 2. The Healer 3. The Exile In this link you can listen to all your discography, likewise the two parts of three of ANN |
