BATTERING RAM

BATTERING RAM
Self titled Review by Johonny Gonzalez @conexionrockhn Swedish rock and metal live an important moment in their history when this band makes their debut official, thus enlarging the country's music catalog, making their own and strangers value their proposal both artistically and sonically. This is the case of BATTERING RAM A band that makes their official foray in 2017, and that these talented musicians offer the masses a combination of rock and melodic metal that injects fresh air, and which is an attractive option for the listener, the result of which is to enjoy their work since the first until the last track. Reason why the band has been releasing a series of singles to make themselves known both locally and internationally, and that for the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 it´s materialized with the release of their first album, which is self-titled, and that the band has taken charge of the entire production process, and that together with Kristofer Strandberg they have shaped this important step in their career. The protagonists of this interesting story are Johan Hallström- Vocals, Jonas Edmark- Guitars, Tony Trust- Drums, and Jocke Ståhl- Bass.
The result is an album that is conformed by 9 tracks with a total duration of 42 minutes, where the band offers to those who allow themselves to be caught by its sound a material with high expectations, resulting in the consequence that you follow the band and that you expect from them better works in the future. Released in Digipack format, and with a photograph indoors with their respective thanks, the band offers us a powerful dose of good rock with songs like Taking My Time that begins with a windy atmosphere and a brief acoustic interlude begins with power, elegance and rhythm, and that will be the track with which them start their live concerts.
The Sign arrives aggressive in every sense of the word, where the drums take a leading role throughout the track, and that all the instruments and the voice give an excellent balance, which the band sends a message between lines that does not they let your guard down in what comes later, so the premise is fulfilled with Stronger Forever that with a modern rock base has the merits to be a favorite within this album. I Will Come Alone is another of the highlights of this work, for maintaining a melodic formula especially for the guitar, which more than one would be tempted to headbang with an air guitar or air drums and bring out that rockstar that we all carry inside. Chase The Fire is another one of those competitors within the album, and it´s there that Johan gives a character and a special attitude to the song in its almost 5 minutes duration, that anyone would think could fit in the style for a video dedicated to the theme of motorcyclists who hit the road in an adventure to give meaning to life, and that this track offers that as a kind of soundtrack.
In the intermediate part of the album, Scared For My Life is released, and by the way they offer us a video where the band alternates in a concert, causing a communion with their fans, and which is also emerging as one of the favorite tracks of both the album as from his live shows. Coming My Way, is a dense track, where the guitar and the bass impose things in their own way, but without lowering the musical quality that is offered with the rest of the album, which generates a very balanced contrast where the listener tries to give different nuances and thus avoiding falling into a formula of something linear that in the long run would provoke not listening to the album completely. Another highlight comes: Wanted Man, also released on video, a delight to the ears! With a solid rhythmic base where all the instruments do their thing without seeking prominence, and which will also be a favorite among fans when they listen to it. Closing the album and with the set on high Cut In Two arrives at once, with a line between the melodic and the alternative metal, leaving in evidence up to that point what the band has offered throughout the album, leaving a clear message: We offer you this effort of four musicians in order not to disappoint them, and that consequently fans can value and enjoy each of the special moments that the band has in this debut, which is undoubtedly one of the releases that in 2020 you must to pay attention. In conclusion: we have a debut that seeks to conquer two sides of a single coin, on the one hand the young, in which the band offers a dose of fresh, modern and dynamic music in their songs, and on the other hand for the Old guard we will come across something new but that maintains the elegance of classic metal between slow and fast passages, and that will be a pleasant experience if you listen to them in your living room or at a concert.
An album that all of his songs can be played by radio, and that can also be played at a concert, since this debut is not wasted throughout his songs. For now it only remains to congratulate the band for this important step in their career, as well as Kingart Music Management for believing in a band that has a promising future in Sweden and other continents, since this debut has put them in a profile Very remarkable, and the expectation is manifested from now on maintaining that same and successful formula for a new album, or surpassing it both in quality and in elements that Battering Ram could experience in the future. You must have it in your collection!
