Musickness No Label Society Review by Johonny González @conexionrockhn If you are looking for fresh, different proposals and talent made from the heart through the instruments, we present you with this band that will turn your gaze towards them, and that with this work seek to conquer new audiences around the world, and we will explain of these and many more reasons to listen to this album in the present analysis that we offer on Conexión Rock Radio. We present you from Gothenburg, Sweden to Anöjd A band that has managed to combine elements of Rock, Metal, Groove, Hard Rock, and Thrash Metal in a single stream, and who are living an interesting moment in their career with the release of their first production called Musikness, and which was born out of concern of two friends who have something in common in addition to a strong friendship: Music, in a journey of self-learning, satisfaction in making and exploring sounds, resulting in this self-produced work, consisting of 13 tracks with an approximate duration of 43 minutes where the band offers interesting moments from start to finish with the aim of preventing the listener from skipping between tracks and making the experience a pleasant one from start to finish. Anöjd was born from the creative impetus of Carlos Buchmann, a musician originally from Brazil, who has had experience with his band Hipnoid, and who currently lives in Sweden where he meets Hans Kollberg, who express their dissatisfaction through a strong and casual proposal, that if they propose can go very far with their sound to other continents and that they have a presence in various festivals both in Sweden and in the rest of Europe.
We started the trip with Waiting to Die, here the element of Heavy and Groove metal are present starting with the phrase of "Are you just waiting to die?", Perfect for the band to start their live shows, and which is the Musickness cover letter. In Any War Cry the band goes in Crescendo mode without letting their guard down in one of the quick moments of the album, and for Chorusless Life we reached one of the album's halftones where the drums set the tone throughout the song and that It marks an interesting contrast between the guitar and a special guest that appears unexpectedly like the harmonica that literally puts a different atmosphere towards the end of the track. In Greedy Minds the bass opens the first moments of the song, we would think at first impression that it will be another of the slow points of the album, but advancing the seconds it takes a melodic air, making this track one of the highlights in this work, just as way with Gripp, which takes you through passages of Groove making us inevitably shake our heads or take out our air guitar to imitate those good chords. In the middle part of the album we got to Eyes To See, and anyone would think that this track would be perfect if it had a video, which imposes that atmosphere of being played on a radio station while you travel on the road at night, leaving on record that Eyes To See has a lot of competitive quality within this material
We come to an interesting part of the album that puts a block of songs in a middle curve, such as Hey You, where the band offers us a slight moment of respite with alternative passages that evoke the music that came out in the decade of the 90´s, likewise keep the title track rhythm: Musickness, Feeling Hard, and Hurt, making this segment enjoyable without losing the linear part that our friends from Anöjd left for the rest of the album. We are going to the final stretch of the album, and in this part Spoils Of War makes its appearance, where the band makes a change of speed in its gearbox to tell us between the lines: the good we leave for the closing, and is complemented by The Go that with a half time of Groove the guitar sets the standard to follow to close with the fast Fuck Bomb, and literally the shortest of the album with duration of 1.50 is forceful and the best option for closing Musickness that manifests itself as the band sonorous of a group of assailants who with loaded machine guns burst into a building, leaving a flurry of drum riffs and guitars that when you arrive, you do your damage, and you leave quietly, that was the intention for the cherry on the cake of this album.
In conclusion, we have a work by the band that will generate due interest from start to finish, which sets guidelines for fast and part-time songs that, during listening, you can define which will be your favorite songs or make a playlist. From low to high of this album once you have enjoyed it. A point to mention is the production, which has been achieved thanks to few resources, but with much ingenuity to think at first impression that this album was recorded in a recognized studio in Sweden, but the surprise here that the entire process was handled by artisanal way but with a professional approach, same that you will notice from the first minutes, and that it only remains to see the band in some live performance now with Freddy Souza on drums the band seeks to complete their lineup, so that it can consolidate itself musically in the years to come, and it will bring us pleasant surprises like this Musickness that will not leave those looking for new things indifferent. Basic in collection? The answer is yes! This album is proof that two musicians took a diamond out of the trash, and polished it to give it the due elegance on the 13 tracks that make up this interesting debut, which by the way has been released in red vinyl, in limited edition run for those who want to play it at full volume from the analog format, and who in recent years has taken its place in the preference of collectors, without leaving out the digital option, and which is published on different platforms. Undoubtedly Anöjd marks the beginning of his career with a firm footing, making a clear invitation to his own and strangers to immerse themselves in the interesting sound universe that Musickness offers. You must have it in your collection! Rating: 9/10 Tracklist: Side A:
